The El GUAPOS happy hour meet & greet continues in the posh pad of reclusive promoter Gil Lamar as Fuzz shows off his Turf Guitar, Diablo notes that the drummer; Sticks Trix is strangely absent from the proceedings.
In 1995 a musical senstaion “swept” Tempe and promised to usher in a new sound. More than a band, they were a musical movement known as THE EL GUAPOS.
A mysterious quartet (Ronnie Twirl, Pete Polyester, Sticks Trix & Bert Fuzz Nutley) from Sparks, Nevada whose Winnebago’s engine conked out and stranded them in Tempe on thier way to full fill thier musical lounge dreams in Vegas.
They started playing at Long Wong’s and soon the place was packed. Desperate house wives threw themselves at them and they cashed in.
Then one day they were simply gone. Winnebago and all.
Maids in waiting wept as did Mill Ave bartenders left holding the unpaid tabs, but everyone remembered: The Night of the El Guapos!

“Don’t expect a lot from this show.” Was the unofficial motto of KASR VIDEO, which made a pleasant surprise when we actually knocked out a great show! The program was a weekly 2 hour public access offshoot of the Arizona State University’s original alternative radio station that aired in Phoenix. The music video show featured rarely seen videos and “new” music not in the “main stream.” Along with non-conventional interviews it became a decent way to nurse a hangover with the midnight party crowd. These clips are edited as a sort of best of; minus the music videos.
