Zuleyka Jerrís Rivera Mendoza (born October 3, 1987 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and raised in Salinas, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican beauty queen who has held the titles Miss Puerto Rico Universe and Miss Universe 2006. Presently she’s making her debut as a telenovela actress in Telemundo’s soap opera Dame Chocolate. Her name “Zuleyka” is an Arabic name of brillant and lovely.

Zuleyka Rivera represented Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe 2006 pageant which was televised live internationally from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on July 23, 2006. After competing in swimsuit, evening gown and interview, she was crowned Miss Universe by outgoing titleholder Natalie Glebova of Canada.

Later that evening, Rivera fainted briefly during a press appearance. The incident was reportedly attributed to heat exhaustion (from the stage lights) coupled with the weight of the heavy, chained dress she was wearing. However this caused controversy as many believed her fainting was due to malnutrition.

Rivera was the fifth Puerto Rican to win the title, which makes the island, along with Venezuela(2008) the second most successful entity in the pageant (behind the United States). Prior to Rivera’s win, Puerto Rico had been tied with Venezuela, with each having won the pageant four times. Rivera was the third consecutive delegate from Puerto Rico to make the top five at Miss Universe, after Alba Reyes placed second runner-up at Miss Universe 2004 and Cynthia Olavarría was first runner-up at Miss Universe 2005.

Rivera’s win came only five years after Denise Quiñones, the most recent winner from Puerto Rico, won the crown. As Miss Universe, Rivera represents the Miss Universe Organization, both in the United States and internationally. She was based in New York City, where she shared an apartment with Tara Conner, Miss USA and Katie Blair, Miss Teen USA 2006.

At the Miss Universe 2007 pageant she passed her crown to Riyo Mori of Japan in Mexico City, Mexico on May 28, 2007 before a predicted audience of 1 billion viewers.

After being crowned on July 23, 2006 in Los Angeles, Zuleyka was interviewed by many news teams in Los Angeles and when she arrived at her new home in New York.

From the end of July until early August, Zuleyka traveled to Japan where she presented the Five Star Diamond Award to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo. She also participated in a photo shoot with Kurara Chibana, Miss Universe Japan (and first runner-up), and Zuleyka also visited Mikimoto, the creators of her dazzling crown. In late August, Zuleyka traveled to Indonesia where she attended the opening of a new spa, met with the Minister of Culture, and attended the Miss Indonesia Universe pageant where Agni Pratistha was crowned. While in Indonesia, Zuleyka also visited Bali. On September 4, 2006, Zuleyka returned to her home, Puerto Rico for an official homecoming celebration and parade. The following day, Zuleyka returned to her hometown of Salinas.

As of April 2007, Zuleyka has traveled to the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, France, Greece, Kazakhstan, India, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Thailand, and Brazil, in addition to Japan, Indonesia, and Puerto Rico.

On April 1, 2007, Rivera appeared at Wrestlemania 23 along with Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith and Miss Teen USA 2006 Katie Blair, supporting Donald Trump in the Battle of the Billionaires match against Vince McMahon.

She passed on her crown at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant to Japan’s Riyo Mori, which was held in Mexico City, Mexico on May 28, 2007.

Soledad Fandiño (7 de abril de 1982) es una actriz y modelo argentina.

Soledad nació en el barrio de Flores, Ciudad de Buenos Aires de la República Argentina, el 7 de abril de 1982, apenas comenzada la guerra de Malvinas.

Se crió en el seno de una familia de clase media. Se vio forzada a mudarse varias veces a distintos barrios de la ciudad durante su infancia, debido a la actividad de su madre, hasta establecerse en Villa Lugano, donde vivió la mayor parte de su niñez y adolescencia.

Desde pequeña, ya perfilaba su gusto por la actuación mientras jugaba con su prima a interpretar papeles de actrices de telenovelas argentinas que se emitían por aquel entonces.

Al terminar la secundaria intentó ingresar al conservatorio de arte dramático, pero por consejo de su madre estudió otras carreras, como abogacía o publicidad, a cambio de clases particulares de actuación.

Primeros trabajos

Estudió actuación durante dos años con Agustín Alezzo y realizó un curso de modelaje en la escuela de modelos de Anamá Ferreira.

Un día Soledad, por entonces con dieciocho años, acompañó a una amiga suya a un scouting de modelos para un reality show, que serviría para encontrar una supermodelo para la agencia de Ricardo Piñeiro y mostraría la trastienda de una agencia, con qué criterio se selecciona, se forma, se trabaja y cómo se llega a alcanzar la experiencia para ser una modelo top. Varios miles de chicas se presentaron y solo unas pocas fueron seleccionadas. Soledad tuvo la suerte y las condiciones para ser una de ellas. El programa se llamó Superm 2002 y fue emitido por el Canal 13 de Argentina, siendo un éxito de principio a fin.

Soledad fue seleccionada como una de dieciséis finalistas al momento de su salida, y le valió un contrato con la agencia “RP Modelos”, que perdura hasta nuestros días.

En un principio hizo participaciones esporádicas en TV en los programas “Poné a Francella” y “Resistiré”, hasta que consiguió su primera oportunidad de demostrar sus aptitudes como actriz en la exitosa teleserie: “Rebelde way”.

Éxito

Su primera experiencia en televisión ni se compara con lo que lograría en el 2004, donde participó de un programa del horario central del canal 9 de Argentina que se llamó: “No hay 2 sin 3″. Mientras el programa ganaba público gradualmente, Soledad interpretaba personajes secundarios lejanos a los primeros planos o a largos parlamentos, o bien, desfilaba como modelo cuando era requerido.

El primer gran éxito llegó cuando le dieron la posibilidad de interpretar un personaje de un nuevo segmento del programa que apuntaba al público infantil y juvenil. El segmento se llamó: “Ricos y Mocosos” y el personaje fue: “Felicitas”. La aceptación del segmento fue casi inmediata, catapultando al programa a un éxito inesperado y le valió a Soledad su primer papel protagónico. Con el tiempo, su personaje se convirtió en el eje del segmento, mientras que Soledad Fandiño por sí misma se volvió pilar del programa, llegando hasta opacar a otras figuras de mayor trayectoria.

Por este papel consiguió la nominación como revelación en los Premios del Diario Clarín y luego la de Revelación en los premios “Martín Fierro” (los premios más importantes de la televisión argentina). Luego, en 2005, por su desempeño general en “No hay 2 sin 3″ volvió a conseguir una nominación en los premios “Martín Fierro”, pero en la categoría de “Mejor Actríz de Comedia”

En 2007 fue convocada para interpretar el papel de Sandy en la telecomedia Son de Fierro, en el horario central del Canal 13 de Argentina. El éxito de esta fue de menor a mayor y supo ganarse un lugar en su franja horaria, aunque la calidad del programa fluctuó entre momentos buenos, malos, y pésimos. Trascurrida mas de la mitad de la tira, Soledad se alejó para tomarse unas pequeñas vacaciones y empezar con las grabaciones de la comedia que reemplazaría a Son de fierro en el 2008: “Por amor a vos”.

En 2007 también apareció en el programa lider de la televisión agentina “Show Match” como participante del reality show “Bailando por un sueño”.

Actualmente se encuentra protagonizando el papel de Jazmín en la telecomedia Por amor a vos en el horario central del canal 13. En su primer edición alcanzó los 27.8 puntos de rating, lo cual la postula a ser lider de su banda horaria.
