How can I know if I can trust an NGO charity in Colombia that works with street children?

andcarga | colombia | Sunday, 28 September 2008

Telenovelas

I'm particularly interested in doing fund-raising work for the "Open Arms Foundation" or perhaps "Let The Children Live" or "Poder Joven" I'm wondering if anyone knows of them, or if anyone can give some criticism, positive or negative, of specific NGOs working with homeless children in Colombia. Any advice at all on researching charities without actually being able to visit the country would be a big help.

Modest Needs is a registered charity which helps low income people who need money urgently to overcome an unexpected financial emergency like payment of utility bills, medical bills or repairs. Persons residing in USA and Canada can apply for assistance.

andcarga | colombia | Saturday, 27 September 2008

Telenovelas

I have to come up with a Topic for an essay about the country Colombia. I have to come up with a problem, but can't find any. Is there a problem that you know of that is happening in Colombia?
When did the war that has lasted 42 years in Colombia start?

#1 - Poverty, this was the main reason why guerillas came to be

# 2 - Violence - Guerillas, Narco-traffic, street violence

# 3 - Drugs - the money from this problem finances the guerillas and buys corruption at all levels

However, it is a beautiful country full of great people and we cope with all of this amazingly well…

How are the girls in Barranquilla and Santa Marta Colombia? Are they friendly and easy to approach by men?

No. It is a well-known fact that they are all very suspicious, and almost all of them own and carry a weapon. It is actually almost impossible to approach them if you are of the opposite sex. I know because I have a friend who lives there so I have spent many months there.

How many people does the US murder in Colombia every week?

andcarga | colombia | Saturday, 27 September 2008

Telenovelas

Plan Colombia. YOU pay for it. How many people does it kill? How many innocent civilians, peasants? Does your tax money pay for genocide?
with pleasure:

Let me see if i find more specific stuff.
this is a good one too:

If you pay the people who murder unionists and peasants, aren't you a murderer?

this is the most "stupid" question I´ve ever seen. If u are colombian let me tell you that US just helps with money or with people who work for example in the radar stations. if u are not colombian, come here and learn the situation from the citizent´s point of view

What do you think the actual GNP of Colombia is, including the Cocaine trade?

andcarga | colombia | Friday, 26 September 2008

Telenovelas

I once read an article that said it was Ten Trillion dollars and that that was higher than the US'. Is this possible? What is the GNP or GDP of Colombia and the USA, respectively. Is Ten trillion dollars a ludicrus amount of money? Could the Cocaine business be bringing in that much? How much do you think for US relations, and, how much in the UK, and Europe, and what about globally?

Colombia has a GNP of $156,900,000,000. That is the legal GNP.
